PTI’s Sikh member set to bag minority seat in LG polls unopposed

According to the Dawn "The upcoming local government (LG) elections in the federal capital will have a member from the Sikh community against the minority seat as no other party has fielded its candidate against him.

The candidate Sardar Nrindr Singh is a member of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). He is contesting elections against the minority seat from union council-5 (UC), Bari Imam, however, in the stipulated time, none of the candidates of any other party and individuals, submitted nomination papers against the said seats. This will result into Mr Singh contesting unopposed. Notification of his unopposed victory is yet to be issued, but PTI’s Islamabad chapter is already celebrating it. “Our councilor, who is the first in the history of Islamabad from the Sikh community has been elected unopposed from Bari Imam area, we are proud of our minorities,” said Raja Shiraz Kiani, coordinator NA-53 of PTI. The LG elections in Islamabad are going to be held on Dec 31 and tough competition is expected between PML-N, PTI and other parties.
