FREMONT, CA - U.S. Rep. Mike Honda (D-Silicon Valley) will join the National Sikh Campaign for its first gala of the year on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m.
The National Sikh Campaign is a data driven, grassroots, and media collective whose mission is to foster a positive public image of Sikhs and Sikhism in the United States.
The National Sikh Campaign is a national media effort aimed to educate Americans about Sikhism and Sikh identity, according to organizers. “We all know most Americans don’t know about Sikhs and due to this ignorance, our community has faced violence, bullying and prejudice,” the group states on its website.
“As a founding member of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, I am proud to join the National Sikh Campaign in their effort to unify the Sikh community and inform the larger American public about the contributions of their community to our culture and economy,” said Congressman Honda. “It is an honor to represent the Sikh community in Congress. I will continue to fight to ensure they are protected from hate-based violence, religious discrimination, and racial profiling.”
The Sunday fundraising event is at 4350 Starboard Drive in Fremont. More details here.
