Sikhs celebrate 98th Salana Diwan
According to Tribune India "The Sikh community celebrated the 98th Salana Diwan under the aegis of the Landour Gurdwara Sahib in Mussoorie today. The Guru Granth Sahib path and shabad kirtan were held to mark the occasion at the gurdwara. Devotees offered prayers and participated in community feasting around noon.
A procession was also held in the evening that passed through various markets on the Mall Road up to the Library Bazaar gurdwara that was decorated with ornamental lights much to the delight of the
onlookers. The devotees and satsangs from Doiwala, Dehradun, Paonta Sahib and Vikas Nagar took part in the festivities here. The marching school bands of Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School and Central
School for Tibetans played to the religious tunes during the procession. Local chronicler Gopal Bharadwaj said the practice of the procession was nearly 100 years’ old and is a symbol of goodwill and harmony as people of every community come together to celebrate the occasion with enthusiasm and fervour in Mussoorie.
