The community collaboration will allow PAMA visitors an opportunity to experience The Spirit of Sikhs through art and history exhibitions, performances and interactive demonstrations. PAMA will host an entire month of special events and activities for the entire community to take part in.
Sikh Heritage Month Launch Event – Thursday April 2, 6 to 9 p.m.
• Join PAMA for a special sneak preview of the month’s events to come. Explore The Spirit of the Sikhsexhibition and meet the artists and curators. Treat your senses in the marketplace by sampling South Asian cuisine, interacting with local artists and organizations, enjoying music, watching live art demonstrations and more.
Thursday evenings
• Thursday evenings at PAMA will present a variety of entertainment from open mic night hosted by popular Punjabi artist Fateh Doe. This is a spoken word evening and film night profiling works by local artists.
Weekends
• Weekends in April will be packed with family fun, discussion and exciting exploration. There is something for everyone, from kids’ and adult yoga with Guru Fatha Singh, to family art exploration, play time and story time with the Khalsa Family Resource Centre. Participate in round table discussions, lectures and artists talks all April and learn about Sikh heritage and culture, current community art trends, fashion and nutrition.
Rare Sikh Coin Exhibition – Saturday, April 11, 12 to 5 p.m.
• PAMA and the Sikh Foundation of Canada present an exhibition of rare coins of Sikh Rulers from the 18th to 20th century. The exhibition describes the rich story of this very special collection of coins, which serve as milestones in the history of the Sikhs. Timed tickets will be issued at the front desk on the day of the event on a first-come first-served basis.
