SIKH LEADERSHIP RETREAT IN MISSION

According to Asia Pacific Post "For the first time, BC will host Sidak, an annual religion and leadership retreat for Sikh youth. Previously held in the USA, Sidak will take place from July 27 to August 9 at Khalsa Centre Mission, BC. Sidak is a distinctive leadership development program offered by SikhRI, also known as the Sikh Research Institute, for young adults seeking to increase their commitment towards the Sikh faith. It is a two-week intensive immersion in Sikh culture, language, values and community through understanding bani (scripture), tvarikh (history), and rehat (discipline). This year, Sidak also offers Gurmukhi 101, an introduction to the Gurmukhi alphabet and related elementary language skills. This track attempts to develop basic Panjabi language comprehension vis-a-vis reading, writing and speaking through practical sessions with the help of familiar and easy to understand Panjabi or Gurbani text.
