Sikhs in high spirits in anticipation of Vaisakhi

According to New Strait Times "Sikhs  and devotees of the 110-year-old Gurdwara Sahib Khalsa Dharmic Wadda, along Brick Kiln Road, here are high in spirits in anticipation of the Vaisakhi celebrations tomorrow.

The celebration which commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib in 1699 by the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, starts of three days before with a 48-hour recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib.
 
This culminates on the third day, which is the day of the Vaisakhi.
 
The Gurdwara committee president Kuldip Singh, said that some 1,300 to 1,500 people were expected to attend the celebration tomorrow.
 
" Tomorrow the recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib is expected to be completed at 9am.
 
"This  will be followed by the Raising of the Nishan Sahib (Sikh Standard),  more hymms and religious discourses," he said.
 
Meanwhile, the entire Gurdwara community  has pitched in to prepare  vegetarian meals for the devotees as well as visitors who joined in the three-day celebrations.
 
Devotees has been trickling in the Gurdwara dressed in colorful turbans, dupatta and Salwar  kameez to offer their prayers ahead of the day."
