Glenwood Australian Sikh Association receive $22k from NSW Govt for language classes


According to Blacktown Advocate "The Australian Sikh Association at Glenwood would benefit from the state government's $22,000 funding grant towards language classes.

They received $ 18,000 while Quakers Hill's Sikh Khalsa Mission received $ 4000.

Riverstone MP Kevin Conolly announced the gran, which aimed to improve programs run by the NSW(New South Wales) Department of Education and Communities.

"Both organisations are based in the Glenwood and Quakers Hill area and provide members of different community groups the opportunity to learn language skills," he said.

"The program supports the maintenance, development and acquisition of languages other than English in community- based language programs operating outside school hours."

The Australian Sikh Association and Sikh Khalsa Mission have 149 and 34 students respectively."
